This hex strut spreader bit makes replacement of the front struts in a Mk4 VW hassle-free. Simply insert it into the slot just above the pinch bolt that holds the strut in the upright, then turn it 90 degrees to spread the upright, allowing the strut to be removed/inserted. The bit stays in the slot while you work. Another 90 degrees turn once the strut is back in place removes the bit so you can re-tighten the pinch bolt. A MUST-HAVE VW strut spreader tool.
