Choose the method

Leveling, suspension lifts and body lifts differ.

Suspension lift

Changes the relationship between the chassis and wheels. Match springs, spacers, shocks and geometry components to the engineered kit. Some systems require cutting, drilling or irreversible changes.

Body lift

On suitable body-on-frame vehicles, raises the body relative to the frame. This differs from changing the suspension. Check all manufacturer-required bumper, steering, hose and other accommodations.

It does not itself increase suspension travel.

RC702 installation notes: minor cutting and drilling are required. After installation, the rear bumper cannot be used for towing. Follow the complete kit instructions.

The trim matters as much as the badge.

  • Year, chassis generation, cab/body, engine and axle configuration.
  • 2WD or 4WD; factory lift, off-road package or special spindles/knuckles.
  • Electronic, magnetic, self-leveling or factory air suspension.
  • Existing lift/leveling hardware and installed accessories.
  • Approved wheel diameter, width, offset/backspacing and tire dimensions.
  • Factory brake, steering and driveline equipment noted in the instructions.

Do not stack a leveling spacer on a lift or combine correction parts unless that combination is explicitly supported. Component height labels are not enough to establish compatibility.

Travel & clearance

Check shock compressed/extended length, spring seating, bump stops, sway-bar links and brake/ABS line travel. A longer shock can cause interference if the rest of the system is not designed for its travel.

Driveline & rear hardware

Check CV and driveshaft angles, differential or transfer-case requirements, leaf springs, blocks, U-bolts and pinion corrections where specified. Use approved components and required replacement hardware.

Required parts depend on the exact kit.

This is a planning checklist, not a list of parts every truck needs. Inspect the manufacturer’s contents, required extras and exclusions. Some load-support kits may conflict with lift hardware.

Wheels, tires & real travel

Lift height does not certify tire fitment.

Check the manufacturer’s wheel/tire combination first, then verify steering clearance and full-compression clearance. Wheel offset can move the tire toward a control arm or outward into a fender. Tire diameter and width can vary within a nominal size.

Depending on the platform, larger tires may also require consideration of gearing, braking and speedometer or driver-assistance calibration. Confirm the vehicle and kit-specific requirements.

Before the first drive

Finish the installation plan.

  1. Inspect and repair existing suspension and steering wear.
  2. Install the complete supported kit with its prescribed fasteners, torque procedure and routing.
  3. Check full steering lock, bump/droop clearances and line travel.
  4. Set alignment, headlamp aim and any required vehicle calibrations.
  5. Perform the manufacturer’s follow-up inspection and re-torque schedule; recheck after use as directed.

A steering stabilizer is not a repair for worn joints, loose hardware or incorrect geometry. Diagnose vibration or wobble before choosing an accessory.

Understand before you upgrade

Lift & leveling questions, answered.

Start with what changes, then check what your exact vehicle and kit need.

Why do leveling, suspension lifts and body lifts differ?

Leveling: changes the vehicle’s front-to-rear stance, usually by raising the front to reduce factory rake. It does not automatically add suspension travel.

Suspension lift: raises the chassis relative to the wheels. Kit design determines the changes to geometry, shocks and available travel.

Body lift: raises the body above the frame on suitable body-on-frame vehicles. The frame and suspension stay in place; the spacers do not add suspension travel or raise the axles.

Choose by intended use and manufacturer-approved application, rather than height alone.

Why do I need to support the height change?

Changing suspension height can alter steering, joint and driveline angles. Shocks, bump stops and line routing must also work through the kit’s permitted movement.

Depending on the application, the kit may specify control arms, track bars, brackets, different shocks or brake-line accommodations. These help the complete system work together; they are not a shopping list every truck needs.

Read the kit’s included parts, required extras and exclusions before ordering. Check clearances through steering and suspension movement, then complete the prescribed alignment.
