JDI offers this tool for creating an alternative mounting hole for the Ghost Key start button.

Do I need it when using the factory key opening?

JDI says it is not needed when using the factory key hole.

What should I check before drilling?

Confirm the selected button’s mounting requirements and clear space behind the proposed location before modifying trim. This tool is not a complete Ghost Key kit.
