By swapping out the muffled factory airbox for a mandrel-bent 6061-T6 aluminum tube, this kit maintains a true, turbulence-free inner diameter that lets the turbo spool harder and faster. A durable silver powder coat resists corrosion and reflects engine-bay heat, while the laser-cut heat shield keeps the high-flow cotton filter fed with cooler air for consistently lower charge temps.

Air filtration is handled by a reusable, high-flow cotton element that supports higher mass-air readings without sacrificing particle capture. Wash the filter with a mild cleaner, re-oil it every 10–15 k miles, and it will outlast disposable paper elements many times over. Expect a sharper turbo spool and a prominent induction note once the resonated factory airbox is removed; the extra “whoosh” at wide-open throttle is normal for an open-filter design.

The aluminum intake tube lines up on both the Stinger and the G70, including the MAF housing and crankcase breather connections. The Stinger-spec heat shield generally clears the G70 engine bay but may foul on a core-support brace, especially on manual-transmission models, so some owners run the kit without the shield or trim the mounting tab. Right-hand-drive Stinger fitment is still being evaluated, and DC Sports will publish confirmation tests when they are complete.

Emissions compliance is another frequent topic. The SRI2000 is not CARB-exempt, and no Executive-Order sticker is supplied, so the kit is intended for track or off-road use in states that enforce California emissions standards. If you need a CARB-legal solution, DC Sports recommends retaining the OEM intake until a certified alternative becomes available.
