Every part has a job.

Build for clarity, balanced sound, stronger bass, or open-air output. These are the building blocks that turn individual products into a working system.

01 / SYSTEM BUILDING BLOCK

Speakers

Coaxials combine drivers in one assembly. Components separate the woofer and tweeter. Pro-audio midrange and horn drivers need a system designed around their frequency range.

Compare speakers ↗
02 / SYSTEM BUILDING BLOCK

Amplifiers

Compare continuous RMS output at the intended impedance. Four-channel amps power cabin speakers; a suitable mono amp powers a subwoofer. Plan electrical capacity and ventilation.

Vehicle & application reference

Find your speaker sizes. Then choose your sound.

Start with year, make and model. See documented speaker sizes and locations, then compare available speakers by size. Stereo harnesses and PAC interfaces have their own vehicle-specific requirements.

Also replacing your stereo? Add factory equipment (optional) ↓

Skip these questions for speaker sizes. Answer them to narrow stereo-interface application candidates.

Select a year, make and model to view the fitment table. The selector covers 10,419 car/truck/SUV year-model combinations. There are 1,367 speaker-reference records from Scosche and Crutchfield and 905 PAC interface application rows across 45 store products. Most records cover historical vehicles through 2013, with selected newer Crutchfield references. Coverage is not complete for every vehicle or sound package. Vehicle-list coverage does not imply speaker-size coverage.

Current coverage: 1,367 speaker-reference records and 905 PAC application rows across 45 interfaces. Most speaker records come from the historical Scosche guide through 2013; selected newer vehicles use Crutchfield references. Not every vehicle, trim or factory sound system is documented.

Know what your result confirms.

Speaker specifications come from Scosche vehicle guides, its 2013 application guide, and selected Crutchfield vehicle guides. PAC interface numbers come from PAC manufacturer tables and the detailed vehicle-application tables on our PAC product pages. Choose the matching speaker configuration; review every interface’s required and excluded equipment. Coverage is still expanding: missing sizes or interfaces are marked “needs confirmation”. Factory options can change fitment; a vehicle name in the selector is not a fitment guarantee.

Speaker size reference

A size is a starting point.

Nominal speaker size describes a product class. The actual cutout, basket, mounting depth, and grille clearance determine whether the installation works.

Nominal size Where you may encounter it What to check
3.5" / 4" Small dash or compact locations Often limited bass output. Check clearance and intended frequency range.
4 × 6" / 5 × 7" / 6 × 8" Oval factory openings A different oval or round size may need an application-specific bracket.
5.25" / 6.5" / 6.75" Door speakers, components, pods Nominal sizes overlap; mounting holes, basket diameter, and depth differ.
6 × 9" Some doors, rear decks, saddlebag conversions Check grille clearance and whether the location needs a cut-in kit.
8" / 10" / 12" and larger Subwoofers, towers, or custom pro-audio Diameter does not tell you driver purpose or enclosure compatibility.
Do not substitute by size alone.

A 6.5" midrange, 6.5" coaxial, and 6.5" subwoofer do different jobs. Review the intended frequency range, mounting dimensions, and system requirements on the product page.

Boats / Bikes / Trails / Open air

The cabin is optional. Good sound isn't.

Open-air systems deserve their own plan. Account for wind and engine noise, exposure, secure mounts, vibration, and the power your vehicle can supply.

01 / Marine & boats

Build for water, sun, and salt.

Plan separate listening zones for the helm, cabin, and tower. Choose products with documented exposure ratings and installation requirements for their actual mounting location.

  • Measure the cutout, depth, and mounting panel.
  • Check tower clamp diameter, load, and cable routing.
  • Use corrosion-resistant connections and appropriate marine cable.
  • Protect power circuits and plan battery use at anchor.
Marine grade does not mean every part can be submerged. Check each component's published rating and installation manual.

02 / Motorcycles

Make the ride your listening room.

Fairing speakers, saddlebag conversions, and compact amplifiers need a motorcycle-specific plan. A touring-bike kit must match the year, radio generation, lid design, and mounting location.

  • Check fairing depth, grille clearance, and weather exposure.
  • Confirm any radio flash, interface, or signal requirements.
  • Review charging capacity and secure vibration-resistant mounts.
  • Keep wiring and equipment clear of steering and controls.
A 6 × 9" saddlebag conversion is an aftermarket installation. It is not a claim that every bike has factory 6 × 9" speakers.

03 / ATV & UTV

Sound that belongs on the trail.

Choose a sealed soundbar, cage-mounted tower setup, vehicle-specific pods, or a complete system around the exact ATV or UTV platform.

  • Match cage diameter, roof, doors, windshield, and passenger clearance.
  • Check IP ratings and protection from mud, dust, and vibration.
  • Confirm Ride Command or other factory-source interfaces.
  • For ATVs, check rack space, load limits, and safe control access.
RZR Pro, non-Pro RZR, and Can-Am X3 systems use different mounting and integration parts. Universal pods still need a fit and mounting check.

04 / Slingshot & open-air vehicles

Match the platform. Own the sound.

Build around the dash, side panels, and rear storage of your exact Slingshot generation. Choose output, exposure protection, and amplifier mounting for an open cockpit.

  • Confirm model year, trim, factory source, and panel generation.
  • Measure cutouts and speaker depth; check harness compatibility.
  • Choose a sealed or ported enclosure to suit the exact subwoofer.
  • Review access, vibration, water exposure, and electrical demand.
DS18 SLG-RSUB10XL is an empty 10-inch sealed rear-storage enclosure with 0.54 ft³ internal volume. The documented overview covers 2015–2025; later years need confirmation. Match the subwoofer specifications and protect the MDF enclosure from exposure.

Complete the system

The parts that make the build work.

Universal accessories belong in the plan—but still need to match the system, space, and environment.

Power & signal

  • Power/ground cable sized for current and cable length.
  • Appropriate fuse and holder near the power source.
  • Speaker wire, RCA cables, or compatible signal interfaces.
  • Protected terminals and secure routing.
Wiring & accessories ↗

Boxes, pods & mounts

  • Correct enclosure type and net internal volume.
  • Subwoofer cutout, mounting depth, and displacement.
  • Speaker brackets, grille clearance, and sealed mounting.
  • Secure vehicle, cage, tower, or flat-surface attachment.
Boxes & enclosures ↗

Install & tune

  • Required harnesses and system-retention interfaces.
  • Amplifier airflow and electrical capacity.
  • Crossovers and gains set for the complete system.
  • Final checks for polarity, rattles, and clean output.

“Universal” still means “check the specifications.”

Cables, boxes, and mounts should match the current demand, speaker design, available space, and exposure of your application.

Answers before checkout

Build with a little more confidence.

How do I know what speakers fit my vehicle?

Match the exact year, make, model, trim, speaker location, and factory sound package. Then check basket dimensions, mounting depth, grille clearance, connectors, impedance, and required adapters. A nominal size by itself is not a fitment approval.

Can I keep my factory radio?

Often, but the interface must suit the exact system. Factory amplification, active noise cancellation, filtered channels, and warning chimes can affect the installation. Review the vehicle-specific integration requirements before choosing a converter or amplifier.

Are marine speakers and car speakers interchangeable?

Only when the exact product and installation meet the intended use. Check water and dust ratings, UV exposure, corrosion protection, hardware, and the mounting environment. A marine product label is not a promise that every component can be submerged.

Does a universal enclosure fit every vehicle?

Universal means the part is not designed for one exact vehicle. Verify outside dimensions, secure mounting, access, ventilation, and the subwoofer’s cutout, depth, air-volume, and sealed or ported requirements.

Should I compare RMS watts or maximum watts?

Use continuous RMS ratings to compare amplifier output and speaker power handling at the actual wired impedance. Also consider sensitivity, crossover settings, distortion, and the available electrical system.

What if my vehicle is missing from the lookup?

The lookup includes catalog application records and separate manufacturer-checked installation references. Coverage varies by vehicle and factory sound package. Use the fitment request with your exact vehicle, factory sound package, speaker location, and photos or measurements where possible. We can review suitable choices before you order.

Can I use high-output pro-audio speakers for a simple factory replacement?

Some projects can, but a midrange or compression driver may need separate tweeters, suitable crossovers, amplification, or custom mounting. Start with the sound goal and intended frequency range; compare complete systems rather than wattage alone.
